Love your history? The region is full of historic gems worth a visit. Head to Willunga to visit the old Courthouse Museum complete with cells, stables and police residence, built between 1855 and 1872. Behind the courthouse you’ll find the Slate Museum, the only one of its kind in Australia. The museums are open from 1pm to 4pm on the first Tuesday and second and fourth Saturday of the month.
Closer to Adelaide, the Reynella Horse Changing Station is open on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Explore the 1850s stables showcasing artefacts, photographs and historical information, celebrating a bygone era when horse-drawn coaches ran from Adelaide to Willunga.
