Fall in love with the stunning hills and unlock life’s simple pleasures year round. Golf, cycling and horse riding lay around every natural corner.

Willunga Golf course (pictured above) is one of the ‘must do’ courses in the region, with a restaurant, cart-hire, pro-shop and driving range.  Resident professional and pro shop manager Peter Bickley says the course is one of the best in the state. “The quality of the course is great – lush fairways and beautifully manicured greens – complemented by picturesque surrounds, with meandering creeks, majestic old gum trees and chipper tweets and songs from the birds.”

For those wanting to see the sights by bike or on foot, the region is home to many cycling and walking trails. The Coast to Vines Rail Trail stretches from Hallett Cove to Willunga – 35kms of stunning coastal tracks to ride or walk.  Inland, the Shiraz Trail between McLaren Vale and Willunga meanders through wine country, connecting you to some of the region’s bike-friendly cellar doors.  You can also experience the infamous Willunga Hill climb, a feature of the world renowned Santos Tour Down Under.

The Tom Roberts Horse Trail is another spectacular way to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region.  Developed for horse-riding, the track is also idea for walkers and cyclists.  There’s a number of trails to choose from, along the coast, valleys or hills. For these and more tracks and trails, visit our trails post or our recreational trails page on onkaparingacity.com
